Keeping your pet safely contained depends on a fully functioning Computer Collar® Receiver, and that means staying on top of the battery inside it. If you're wondering how long Invisible Fence® Brand batteries last and when to replace them, here's what you need to know.
The Power Cap® Battery Lasts 90 to 120 Days
Invisible Fence® Brand uses a patented Power Cap® Battery in the Computer Collar® Receiver. A single Power Cap® Battery lasts approximately 90 to 120 days under normal use before having to be replaced. The variation usually depends on how often the pet gets close to the boundary and the collar activates warning tones; more tones equal more battery use.
To keep things simple and consistent, Invisible Fence® Brand recommends replacing the Power Cap® Battery every three months. This ensures your pet's collar is always operating optimally.
Why You Shouldn't Wait for the Battery to Die
Even the best-trained pets can be susceptible to outside distractions. A drained or weakened battery means the collar may not deliver the audible warning tone or static correction reliably, which means your dog could wander past their boundary without realizing it.
A red blinking light on your pet's Computer Collar® Receiver is a sign that the battery needs to be replaced. But rather than waiting for that signal, staying on a regular replacement schedule is the safest approach.
Use Only Genuine Power Cap® Batteries
Not all batteries are created equal, and this matters when it comes to your pet's safety.
Invisible Fence® Brand Power Cap® Batteries are the only batteries authorized for use in the Computer Collar® Receiver while under warranty. Other batteries may not fit properly and can allow water into the collar unit, putting both the system and your pet at risk.
Genuine Power Cap® Batteries are specially engineered for consistency and reliability, and they exceed industry standards for performance.
The Power Cap® Battery Plan Makes It Easy
To take the guesswork out of battery replacement, Invisible Fence® Brand offers a Power Cap® Battery Plan. The plan delivers batteries on a schedule, so you never have to remember to order them. It also saves 15% compared to purchasing batteries individually.
The plan is compatible with all non-rechargeable Computer Collar® Receivers and is available through the Invisible Fence® Brand online store or your local dealer.
How to Replace the Battery
Battery replacement is straightforward. Use a coin to remove the Power Cap® unit from the collar by inserting it into the groove and turning it 45 degrees counterclockwise. Install the new battery by lining up the lugs with the grooves in the battery chamber and turning it clockwise 45 degrees until it's secure.
If you have any questions about battery replacement, your local dealer is always available to help.
