INVISIBLE FENCE® BRAND ANNOUNCE 120 PETS SAVED THROUGH PROJECT BREATHE™ DONATIONS PROGRAM
Release date: 3/24/2014
These masks allow firefighters to give oxygen to pets who are suffering from smoke inhalation when they are rescued from fires and often save pets’ lives and with at least 120 recorded success stories it is easy to see that the program works.
The Invisible Fence® Brand, headquartered in Knoxville, TN is happy to report that 120 pets have been saved through their Project Breathe™ donations program. The latest save came on February 18, 2014 in Sanford, FL where both a dog and a cat were revived using the special pet oxygen mask made especially to fit the nose area of animals. Human oxygen masks kits does not provide a secure fit that allows the pet to take advantage of oxygen flow but these special pet oxygen masks fit just right and have made the difference in saving 120 pet lives since the donations program started.
The Project Breathe™ donation program was established with the goal of equipping every fire station in America and Canada with pet oxygen masks. These masks allow firefighters to give oxygen to pets who are suffering from smoke inhalation when they are rescued from fires and often save pets’ lives and with at least 120 recorded success stories it is easy to see that the program works.
Invisible Fence® Brand has donated a total of more than 10,000 pet oxygen masks to fire stations all over the U.S. and Canada throughout the life of the program. “When a family suffers the tragedy of a fire, lives are turned upside down,” said Albert Lee, Director of Invisible Fence® Brand. “Pets are valued family members, so we want families to know that their pet can be cared for if tragedy strikes.”
“We realize that humans are the first-priority, but in many cases, pets can be saved if firefighters have the right equipment,” said Lee. “Our Project Breathe™ program is simply a way of giving firefighters the tools necessary to save pets’ lives and we celebrate with the families and the emergency personnel each and every time a pet is rescued and saved.”
Although the number of pets that die in fires in not an official statistic kept by the U.S. Fire Administration, industry web sites and sources have cited an estimated 40,000 to 150,000 pets die in fires each year, most succumbing to smoke inhalation. In most states, emergency responders are unequipped to deal with the crisis. The loss is terrible for the family, heart wrenching for firefighters.
